Backes- Fostered in Massachusetts!
Backes is an 11 month German Shepherd mix. He is a typical toddler - curious about everything and with boundless energy. He is extremely smart and learns quickly. He loves to play with his toys and amuses himself for long periods. Backes has the potential to be an amazing dog if paired with an experienced dog owner who wants to spend the time to teach him his manners and to give him a purpose. Once through basic training – coming, staying, walking nicely on a leash, not jumping up etc. his athleticism and intelligence would make him an excellent agility dog or any other purposeful occupation. Because he has not had the training he needs, right now, he tends to get over-stimulated and will jump up and mouth so it looks like he would be best in an adult home with people who can be there with him as he continues to mature. He is reliably house trained although needs to go out fairly often. He sleeps quietly in a crate at night.
Adopting a dog is a serious commitment and any dog can live upwards of 15+ years. Caring for a dog takes time, patience, compassion, dedication and the financial capability to afford vet-care for routine exams to emergency medical care if needed.
