Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Sweet Paws Rescue. We cannot do what we do without the time, dedication and care of our volunteers. Volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience:

  • Spend time with adoptable cats and dogs—fun for you, and beneficial for them!
  • Help homeless dogs and cats to find their forever homes and families.
  • Meet other people who share your passion for animals.
  • Make a difference for two- and four-legged citizens in your local community.
  • We offer training, flexibility, and a variety of opportunities to match your interests.

    SPR Facility Volunteer

Per Massachusetts state laws, all of our dogs and cats coming into Massachusetts from out of state require a 48 hour isolation period.  We are seeking volunteers to help care for the dogs and cats during this 48 hour period.  This work is physically demandingwith a lot of bending, lifting, and cleaning and requires that you are able to handle large, strong dogs. Yes, the work is hard and dirty but the rewards are beyond words. Duties include: cleaning, laundry, organizing and helping with the dogs and cats at our SPR isolation facility in Groveland, MA.

The volunteer opportunities below do require knowledge of Sweet Paws Rescue’s mission and processes.  How to gain that knowledge is to attend the orientation meeting and volunteer at our ISO facility.

    Application Processing

SPR receives and processes adoption and foster applications every day of the week. So if you are good on the telephone, reliable and readily available to help, this could be a great opportunity to become involved!  This position is one that volunteers must first become familiar with the organization or have prior experience.

    Adoption Events

We are looking for volunteers to help out with our local events and meet and greets. This includes assisting the SPR team members set up and put away event displays, merchandise sales, advertising (including promoting via social media)and handling dogs. These events help raise money towards saving our dogs and they also provide great exposure in finding our local dogs great homes!

    Fundraising

SPR is a non-profit organization and survives on donations. If you have prior fundraising experience or would like to help organize an event, this would be a great place to start! SPR does have literature and an information packet available.

    Home Visits

Are always needed in order to find loving homes for our pups/dogs. In order to make sure our dogs will lead a safe, happy life after adoption SPR relies on volunteers all over the state of MA to inspect potential adoption and foster homes. Conducting home visits consists of contacting the potential applicant and setting up an appointment for the home visit, as well as a visual inspection of the entire property and then sending the information back to the adoption coordinator.

    Ready to get started? Awesome!
Please complete the volunteer application below.

Once your application is received you will get an email with a link to sign up for an orientation meeting.  Attending the orientation meeting is required in order to volunteer for Sweet Paws Rescue.
