We are a small but mighty army of rogue rescuers, scared-dog-cuddlers, and animal advocates that give voice to the voiceless. At Sweet Paws Rescue, we are believers in change by sharing our story and inciting others to be the change too.
Every success story, every face you see on our pages, are rescued, or home, or no longer broken, because of our volunteers. Whether you just want to sweep the floor or run the laundry, unload dogs off transport, volunteer at an event, comfort a shy dog, do some heavy lifting, help with our adoption or foster programs, or even maybe foster yourself. We are nothing without you. It is not always easy work. Sometimes it’s draining, often dirty, and other times - it’s just plain sad. But being part of our Sweet Paws Army is beyond gratifying and could be one of the best things you have ever been a part of.
A heartfelt thank you to the brave women in Mississippi and Alabama that rescue our animals daily. These women fill the void where animals have no options. The work is arduous, their days are emotionally draining, they are our true heroes.
SPR Facility Volunteer
We are governed by the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture and all of our dogs and cats coming into Massachusetts from out of state require a 48 hour isolation period in our quarantine facility located in Groveland. Our facility volunteers care for these animals during their quarantine. This work is physically demanding, with a lot of bending, lifting, and cleaning and sometimes requires that you are able to handle large, strong dogs. Duties can include: cleaning, laundry, organizing, and of course - animal care. The ability to multitask is always a bonus and the desire to be part of a team is required.
There are many ways to volunteer for SPR and the following volunteer opportunities require a working knowledge of our mission and processes by first working closely alongside us as a facility volunteer. We are always cultivating our team from within and love volunteers that want to grow along with us.
SPR receives and processes adoption and foster applications every day of the week. If you have a passion for rescue, are intuitive, have strong communication skills, and great people and dog skills too - this could be a fit for you! There is nothing more fulfilling than helping a dog find its forever home.
Fundraising and Adoption Events
We have a robust calendar of fundraising and adoption events throughout the year. As a non-profit organization, these events are critical to our ongoing rescue efforts while providing priceless exposure for our adoptable animals. We need volunteers for every facet of events from production, to merchandise sales, fundraising, PR and marketing, to simply being one of the warm and welcoming faces as guests walk through the door.
Photographers and Filmmakers
Our photography program has become an incredible asset to the successful placement of our dogs and cats. Featuring our animals in the best light possible increases interest and applications, decreases the time they wait for a forever home, and aids in the overall awareness of the importance of rescue. We have a small team of photographers that shoulder the responsibility of photographing all of our animals before leaving quarantine, sometimes within a foster home, and for editorial feature as we continue to share our story.
